This was supposed to be a non-birding holiday with my Wife, however I managed to escape for a few hours each day. We stayed in Corralejo and I used a hire car to travel to La Oliva most days.

. This resident Canary Island subspecies is smaller and darker than the birds of mainland Africa. The male is more reddish-toned overall and note the short wide bill, which is more swollen at the base than other races. Photographed at La Oliva June 2004 '))
